Case Study: TruShot 2.0® Measured with ISSA Cleaning Times Study Methodology

This SC Johnson dispensing system doesn’t run out of solution. It comes up with one that works every time.

Your spray bottle is empty. But the job isn’t done. You squeeze the trigger a few more times, trying to get the last drops of cleaning solution onto the surface you are cleaning. It spits a little out and dies. You think about the long trek back to the other side of the building to the cleaning closet to get more solution. What a hassle.

Everyone in the cleaning industry has experienced a similar scenario from time to time. Thankfully, SC Johnson Professional® has developed a solution to this common problem. And ISSA has studied and validated the product. What is this product, and what are the results of the study? Did it work, and is it worth it?

THE DETAILS

The product: SC Johnson Professional® TruShot 2.0® Mobile Dispensing System

The claim: The TruShot 2.0® Mobile Dispensing System keeps crews moving with its patented spray-and-wipe cleaning system that provides optimized dilution delivery.

The validators: ISSA Consulting and the ISSA Cleaning Times validating organizations

The purpose: The study had two areas of focus on the product. The study was conducted at approved ISSA validating organizations to allow for proper accuracy and comparison.

  1. Time and motion study to determine the production rates of TruShot 2.0. vs. the existing traditional process utilized at the facility (refill at the closet)
  2. Comparison of the efficiency of TruShot 2.0 vs. the approved ISSA validating organization’s current cleaning methodology

THE METHODOLOGY & PROTOCOLS

Utilizing ISSA’s standardized approach and workloading principles, a time and motion study was conducted to determine the production rate and efficiencies of SC Johnson Professional® TruShot 2.0® Mobile Dispensing System over a period of time using the prescribed tasks and tools.

A specific time was selected for the study using the consistent standard operating procedures (SOP) and strictly adhered safety protocols. All factors that affect productivity, and other related impediments, were held as constant. The study was conducted across the following facility types: higher education, airport, commercial office, and retail.

THE RESULTS

The ability to fill the SC Johnson Professional® TruShot 2.0® Mobile Dispensing System at the nearest water source as opposed to returning to the custodial closet or needing to carry a fill hose saved 70.69% on average walking time for the cleaner across all facility types. This equates to 50 hours of productivity on an annual basis.
