McKinney Independent School District (MISD), located in one of Texas’ fastest-growing regions, serves more than 24,500 students across 68 facilities—totaling over 4 million square feet. With
such a large and active footprint, keeping spaces clean, safe, and sanitized presents an ongoing challenge, especially amid persistent labor shortages in facilities management.
To address these needs, MISD partnered with Aramark, its facilities management provider, and invested in Nilfisk robotic floor scrubbers. These autonomous machines were installed in two high
schools and independently clean 115,000 square feet of gymnasiums, cafeterias, and corridors for five hours each night. This automation frees up valuable staff time, allowing cleaning teams to focus on more detailed and high-priority tasks.
“The auto-scrubbers have been a huge advantage during our struggles with current labor shortages,” said MISD Chief Operations Officer W. Greg Suttle. “We are delighted that Aramark had the vision to suggest that the district partner with them to make this long-term equipment investment.”
Nilfisk’s advanced scrubbers feature integrated UV-C disinfection technology, using ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) to eliminate bacteria, viruses, and other harmful pathogens while cleaning. This technology provides an additional layer of protection, reinforcing the district’s commitment to health and safety for all students and staff.
