Sofidel Expands Production Capabilities and Offerings

Sofidel

Sofidel America recently opened its Inola, Oklahoma manufacturing plant. The 1.8-million-square-foot, $360-million facility represents the largest manufacturing investment in the state in recent years. The integrated facility transforms pulp into paper and converts it to finished product. It will produce an estimated 100,000 tons of product each year, for both the retail channel and the professional channel with Papernet, Sofidel’s Away From Home brand.

Built on a 280-acre parcel of land, the state-of-the-art facility was designed to serve customers in the South-Central and Central-Western United States. The production plant is now the company’s largest North American investment, and its inauguration marks a milestone in the company’s growth. Sofidel now has a direct presence in seven states: Florida, Mississippi, Nevada, Oklahoma, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

This year has been an especially busy one as Sofidel navigates changing standards around cleanliness and hygiene during the novel coronavirus pandemic. The Inola plant and the Circleville, Ohio plant, opened in 2018, allow Sofidel to respond quickly and meet customer demand for sustainable hygiene essentials like toilet paper and paper towels.

Focus on innovation

The pandemic has also led to new ideas and product launches that align with the public’s heightened expectations around cleanliness and infection prevention. Papernet recently introduced its Heavenly Soft Door Tissue, which eliminates direct contact with restroom doors and other touchpoints that can contaminate clean hands. The Door Tissue is paired with Papernet’s Defend Tech dispenser, which features silver-ion technology that repels germs. This perfect combination makes touchless exit easy from restrooms, elevators and other areas, to further curb the spread of germs within facilities.

At the ISSA Show North America Virtual Experience, Sofidel will unveil its new Papernet Defend Tech hand towels. The hand towels are infused with orange essential oil, which has the ability to kill bacteria on the paper within 24 hours to reduce the spread of germs and soothe sensitive skin. Defend Tech hand towels are ideal for restrooms and other key areas where germs are a concern, such as commercial kitchens, office breakrooms, classrooms, and patient rooms in health care settings.

In this new era of hygiene, Papernet products are helping businesses address critical cleanliness issues to give greater peace of mind to those who work, visit, and live in these facilities. With a focus on innovation, Sofidel will continue to launch Papernet solutions that enhance hygiene without compromising sustainability.
