WeWork Takes a Stake in the Cleaning Industry

April 5, 2019

Managed by Q—an on-demand office services firm that provides a variety of facility management services from cleaning to maintenance and even security—has been acquired by WeWork, a global company in the communal workspace industry.

WeWork is part of The We Co., which has expanded into other on-demand industries built around innovative solutions, such as flexible living spaces and immersive educational programs. With the acquisition of Managed by Q, WeWork is now dipping into the world of facility services.

Clients of Managed by Q can schedule requests for their own operational needs “via online dashboards,” Forbes reported. “Unlike most on-demand companies, the startup set itself apart by hiring workers as employees instead of contractors, offering hourly wages, plus benefits like 401k plans. The company currently has about 500 employees.”
