The new, automated terminal in Singapore’s Changi Airport also boasts the latest in housekeeping technology—cleaning robots.
The robots, which have cartoon faces, work alongside human cleaners to mop, clean and pick up trash at the terminal floors, parking lots and restrooms, according to Channel NewsAsia. The Changi Airport Group (CAG) searched three years before purchasing and deploying the models in Terminal 4. and plans to purchase six more next year. The group says the robots will decrease housekeeping manpower by about 20 percent and make the airport’s cleaning staff better skilled in technology programming. Terminal 4 also features automated check-in kiosks, immigration clearance, and boarding gates, which all use facial recognition technology.
