CMI Helps DuPage County Inmates Clean Up

August 23, 2019

ISSA’s Cleaning Management Institute (CMI) recently presented a customized cleaning certification course to inmates of the DuPage County Jail in Wheaton, Ill.

Eight inmates participated in the six-week course, in which they learned specialized cleaning procedures and participated in hands-on cleaning demonstrations. At the conclusion of the workshop, each participant successfully achieved CMI certification. According to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Department, the certification will assist the inmates with securing gainful employment upon their release. The program was so popular that eight more inmates have signed up for another upcoming CMI workshop.

“Our whole goal is to give these inmates a life outside of jail,” said DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick. “We want to give them stability so they can take care of their families. That’s what this is about.”
