Professional Window Cleaner Named Fastest in the World

February 24, 2022

When professional window washer Joel Lamb of Madisonville, Kentucky promotes his business by saying he’s the fastest window washer in the world, he’s not exaggerating. Earlier this year, Lamb competed in an annual contest hosted by the International Window Cleaning Association (IWCA), where he took home the first-place award, The Messenger reports

Lamb grew up working in the window washing business started by his father and took over most of the duties when his father was injured. “I grew up literally with a squeegee in my hand,” he said.

In 2018, Lamb left the family business and started his own company servicing numerous facilities from low-rise and multi-story buildings to medical offices, schools and even the local airport. Around this time, he heard about the IWCA contest and began preparing for it. He competed in 2020 but did not win. Undeterred, he began practicing his speed window washing technique daily. He watched window cleaning videos and studied previous winners’ techniques.

Lambs’ efforts paid off this year when he was named “fastest window cleaner in the world” at the IWCA competition in Florida. The first person he called to share the news of his win was his father, who always wanted to compete in the contest.
