2023’s Most and Least Energy-Expensive States

July 6, 2023

As air conditioners crank up to combat the heat this summer in the United States, energy bills might follow suit in a big way for the following U.S. states, as determined by consumer finance company WalletHub.

Wyoming is predicted to see the largest total energy costs, while the price of electricity alone is expected to be highest in the state of Hawaii—despite the fact that Hawaiians use the least amount of energy per consumer, according to the report.

On the flip side, Washington, D.C., is predicted to have the cheapest total energy costs in 2023, followed by New Mexico and Texas. The state of Washington is expected to have the lowest price for electricity in the union this year.
