3M Searching for Young Scientists

January 31, 2020

3M, in partnership with Discovery Education, has launched the 2020 Young Scientist Challenge.

Now in its 13th year, the contest calls for students in grades 5-8 to submit a video demonstrating an innovation that could provide a solution to an everyday problem. A panel of judges will select 10 finalists who will then be paired with a 3M scientist to create an invention that solves the problem they identified.

The 10 finalists will receive US$1,000 and a trip to 3M’s Innovation Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. The winning student will be crowned “America’s Top Young Scientist” and receive $25,000.
