March 6, 2023

This Wednesday, March 8, is International Women’s Day, designated to globally celebrate women and their the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. March is also Women’s History Month in the United States, set aside as a time to remember and honor women’s contributions throughout American history.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the ISSA Hygieia Network, an ISSA Charities™ signature program dedicated to the advancement and retention of women in the cleaning industry, will present Women Pioneers in the Cleaning Industry, an online panel discussion, on Wednesday, March 8, from 1–2p.m. CT. Registration is free to all ISSA members.

Panelists will include:

  • Valerie Burd, president at ABM Education
  • Carey Jaros, CEO at GOJO/PURELL
  • Linda Silverman, executive chair of the board of directors for Maintex, Inc.

The discussion, sponsored by Sunbelt Rentals, will be moderated by Maureen Carroll, national distribution sales manager at SC Johnson Professional.

Representing more than 85 years in combined experience, the panel of leaders will talk about the positive impact that they and other women have made within the cleaning industry. They’ll also discuss how they reached their level of success and how current industry leaders can cultivate the next generation of women pioneers.

Don’t miss out on this fast-approaching opportunity to gain important insights from women leaders within the cleaning industry. Register today for the panel discussion.

Also this month, the women of ISSA, in partnership with the ISSA Hygieia Network, are showcasing how they are incorporating the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day—#EmbraceEquity—in the cleaning industry. Each day in March, an ISSA female employee or ISSA Board or Council member is giving her unique perspective on the impact of equity in the workplace and the cleaning industry.

“We are honored to be part of the International Women’s Day promotion of #EmbraceEquity,” said ISSA Director of Communications Jill Nuppenau. “As the worldwide cleaning industry association, it is important that we lead the way for the industry to provide fair practices of diversity, equity, and inclusion of everyone. We are excited to share all March long the important and insightful comments from the Women of ISSA on how they embrace equity.”
