CMM Weekly News Recap-November 8, 2019
Happy Friday! As we head into the weekend, take some time to prepare your mindset for a productive workweek so you won’t be hit with the Monday blues. Simple steps such as exercising and getting out in nature, as well as winding down Sunday evening, can help you face Monday morning with energy and motivation.
That motivation will come in handy this time of year as professional cleaners are taking extra precautions to help stop the spread of respiratory viruses. Learn how the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as well as strict protocols on hand hygiene can stop the spread of harmful pathogens throughout your building, especially in health care facilities that house residents who are immune compromised and at risk of health care-acquired infections (HAIs)
There is good news about HAIs—the number of cases of C. difficile and two other infections have gone down, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Acute-care hospitals reported the number of C. difficile infections were down by 12% since last year, central line-associated bloodstream infections were down by 9%, and catheter-associated urinary tract infections were down by 8%.However, there is still work to be done as there were no changes in the number of cases of ventilator-associated infections, surgical site infections, or Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) between 2017 and 2018.
