Emphasize the Importance of Infection Prevention

International Infection Prevention Week is the ideal opportunity to promote infection control best practices

October 19, 2021

Environmental services (EVS) staff and infection preventionists in health care facilities and other settings work year-round to keep surfaces free from pathogens that cause infectious diseases. 2021 International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW), October 17-23, highlights the efforts of these workers.

IIPW was established in 1986 to show the importance the infection prevention and control community in protecting the public from surges in health care-associated infections, measles outbreaks, flu season, and so many other day-to-day infectious battles. This year’s theme is “Make Your Intention Infection Prevention.”

The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) has prepared resources you can use to spread the word about the importance of infection prevention throughout your facility and community. Access sample social media posts, newsletter copy, and a press release in the promotional toolkit. Download 2021 IIPW logos and web buttons. Download infographics on vaccines, hand hygiene, personal protection equipment (PPE), and other infection control topics.
