What started out as a simple idea on a podcast has turned into an industry leading event— Cleaning & Cocktails Live. The idea: Hold an event that supports cleaning business owners and building service contractors (BSCs) in working on their businesses together, instead of doing so alone and in a hyper-competitive state. This includes establishing and empowering a community that can improve the perception of cleaning companies and benefit the overall industry. This year’s Cleaning & Cocktails Live event will take place during National Cleaning Week, on March 28–30, 2023, in conjunction with the Clean Advocacy Summit, being held March 28–29. Tickets can be purchased here for both events. Since 2021, Ricky Regalado (founder of Route and Rozalado Cleaning) and Michael Brown (founder of Swept Software) have lived the motto #StrongerTogether and have hosted events in three major cities that connect, inspire, and share knowledge with BSCs. “I scaled my company from $1 to $15M and into 20 states by working with other cleaning companies and using software.” shared Regalado. “People always ask me how that was possible, and I realized that people want more than a quick post on social media or email…they want to sit down and learn how to use my growth playbook.” John Barrett, the executive director of ISSA, attended the event in 2022 to show support for BSCs. “As soon as I walked in the room, I could feel the energy. These events feel different, and that is why ISSA is partnering with Ricky and Michael,” Barrett said. What to Expect From Cleaning & Cocktails Live A focus on winning, retaining, and expanding profitable contracts A chance to learn from industry experts on how they have won (and retained) millions of dollars of profitable contracts Speakers who own successful cleaning companies and will share their growth playbook with the attendees A copy of the growth playbook and an opportunity to apply it to your specific business during the event A group size of roughly 75–100 people, ensuring real time feedback from experts and peers Two evenings of networking with like-minded professionals in the cleaning industry, in an environment that allows deep connections to form Attendance at the all-new Vulnerability Fireside chat, where industry leaders share some of the lowest points in their professional journeys and how they overcame those moments. Who Should Attend Commercial cleaning companies with annual revenues ranging from hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to millions Residential cleaning companies that want to start offering commercial services. “We are constantly pushing ourselves to create new experiences that truly help cleaning company owners,” said Brown. “These events are so much more than cleaning services, chemicals, equipment, and software — it is about challenging ourselves as leaders to look at growth holistically across our businesses and industry. We really are stronger together.” The results speak for themselves, with past attendees sharing that they have won multi-million-dollar contracts, created new subcontracting partnerships with both parties winning together, and formed private groups for business owners to connect and support each other. If you want to grow your business with proven methods, click here to learn more and purchase tickets for the event.

Sitting down to have a cup of coffee and chat with your friends is something you do every day. How would you like to do that regularly with your residential cleaning company peers from across the country and around the world? Now you can! The Association of Residential Cleaning Services International (ARCSI), a Division of ISSA, is now hosting a monthly Zoom meeting to do just that—enjoy a cup of coffee and a conversation. Hosted by Gosia Baran and RJ Patel, the monthly Coffee & Conversation brings together ISSA’s residential cleaning community to talk about crucial issues facing the industry, as well as day-to-day operational and personnel concerns. Each month, a special guest is invited to start a discussion around a topic important to the industry. In January, Liz Trotter, owner of Cleaning Profit Builders, joined the meeting to talk about goal setting for 2023 and shared a few pieces of advice. When goal setting or facing an obstacle, Trotter suggested attendees to focus on four things: Are you on track for your goal this week? If not, do you need help? From whom? What is your bottleneck? Trotter also encouraged attendees to have an accountability partner to help keep you on track to reach your goals. “Accountability partners are helpful because they help us hold OURSELVES accountable. When that meeting is coming up, we WANT to bring our best selves,” she said. Coffee & Conversation is a great place to connect with your residential community, learn a little bit, and even enjoy a cup of coffee! Win an All-Access Pass to the 2023 ISSA Show North America The ISSA Show North America is the premier cleaning convention, and for 2023, we are back in Las Vegas, November 13–16. If you attend six or more Coffee & Conversations, you will be entered into a drawing in July for an All-Access Pass to the ISSA Show! Plus, ARCSI will do a quarterly drawing for a prize if you bring a friend! For the first quarter, the prize is an All-Access Pass to the Show! Mark your calendar now and register for Coffee & Conversation!

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has announced a range of updates in the primary version of its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building certification program, LEED v4. The council issued the updates to better address climate change and carbon emissions. According to the USGBC, the revisions will raise the threshold of LEED v4 to encourage greater energy performance and further align LEED v4 with LEED v4.1, which raised the bar on energy and climate upon its release in 2018. Additionally, USGBC Building Design and Construction (BD+C) and Interior Design and Construction (ID+C) projects will be able to demonstrate improvement in energy performance with LEED v4.1’s metric of energy cost or greenhouse gas emissions as well as LEED v4’s original source energy metric. “From day one, USGBC has been committed to the continuous improvements and advancement of green buildings standards. The new updates to LEED v4 affirm that climate is core to LEED,” said Peter Templeton, USGBC president and CEO. “LEED certification has been a critical tool to help empower organizations to build and improve the conditions of buildings today that address climate change.” For more on LEED certification, visit the www.usgbc.org/leed.
