Hotel Housekeeper Finds Weapons Cache

July 13, 2021

As more people go out of town and rent hotel rooms, housekeepers have been on the ball in not only keeping guests rooms clean but also alerting authorities to any potential hazards they find while cleaning.

Over the 4th of July weekend, a hotel housekeeper in Chicago alerted police about finding guns in a guest room. Last weekend, a housekeeper cleaning rooms at the Maven Hotel in downtown Denver tipped off police about a large arsenal of weapons, ABC News reports.

Police arrested three men and one woman after finding 16 long guns, body armor, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and narcotics in two rooms. The hotel is close to Coors Field where the MLB All-Star Game will be played today.

The discovery initially prompted police to suspect they had thwarted a possible mass shooting plot in the works. But on Sunday morning, FBI officials in Denver said a preliminary investigation has not turned up any evidence that the episode was tied to terrorism.

However, Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen said the investigation is still in its early stages and nothing has been ruled out. “What I can say is that through the great work of the staff at the Maven and the great work by our officers that this is a safer city.”
