List of Facilities Achieving GBAC STAR™ Accreditation Grows by 75
An additional 75 worldwide facilities—including an airport, convention centers, stadiums, and hotels—have achieved GBAC STAR™ accreditation, the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, announced.
Tucson Airport Authority in Tucson, Ariz., UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in Milwaukee, the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Ky., Hyatt properties around the world, and many more join a growing list of accredited facilities.
“Facilities that achieve GBAC STAR have proven that their approach to cleaning, disinfection and infection prevention will protect building visitors, residents, and employees,” said GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger. “And because accreditation is renewed annually, these organizations demonstrate they are committed to continually improving their programs.”
GBAC STAR accreditation means that a facility knows how to prepare, respond, and recover from infectious disease outbreaks and biohazard situations. The program, which is designed for facilities of all types and sizes, outlines 20 program elements that each have specific performance and guidance criteria for facilities to meet to earn accreditation. The GBAC STAR Facility Directory includes a list of all facilities that are GBAC STAR-accredited and those that have committed to achieve accreditation.

“We’ve seen tremendous interest in GBAC STAR from facilities around the world,” said ISSA Executive Director John Barrett. “By helping organizations understand how to document and execute their cleaning procedures, we’re paving the way for a healthier and safer world.”
