Nightclub Censured for Serving Cleaning Fluid Cocktail

October 21, 2019

Having a clean facility is a priority for restaurants, nightclubs, and other establishments that serve beverages to the public. However, it also is important to have a safe storage system for cleaning chemicals, away from beverages, as the owner of a Washington, D.C. nightclub found out.

Mehari Woldemariam, owner of Club Heaven & Hell, has been ordered to pay a US$90,000 fine and will have his liquor license suspended for 90 days starting November 1 after he accidentally served a customer a Long Island Iced tea that contained chemical cleaning fluid, NBC 4 reports.

Woldemariam said he confused the cleaner for sour mix. He called 911 and offered to call an ambulance for the customer, who fortunately was not seriously injured.
