School Custodian Finds Purse Hidden Since 1957

February 19, 2020

Many school custodians have reunited students with lost items, most commonly school supplies and homework they recently misplaced. A school custodian in Ohio found a purse that had been hidden for more than 60 years, Inquisitr reports.

Chas Pyle, custodian at North Canton Middle School in North Canton, Ohio, was doing routine maintenance work last spring when he found the purse in a gap between the wall and lockers. The gap had been covered with a piece of trim since the purse’s owner had stashed it there in 1957. The trim had come loose, so Pyle was replacing it when he found the purse.

It took a while for school officials to track down the owner. They recently learned she had passed away in 2013, but they were able to give the purse to her five children. It contained makeup, a comb, pencils, erasers, a library card, a few photographs, and US$0.26.
