Showing Appreciation on Thank Your Cleaner Day

October 12, 2023

Thank Your Cleaner Day, this year falling on October 18, is quickly approaching. Initially started in New Zealand in 2015 by the area’s local trade organization of the Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) in cooperation with cleaning system manufacturer Kärcher, the day is an opportunity to show gratitude for the hard, dedicated, and often life-saving work that professional cleaners provide to the public on a daily basis.

If you’re considering extending appreciation to the professional cleaners that make a difference in your business or facility, there’s still time to consider the following ideas:

  • Celebrate the day and bring greater awareness to all that professional cleaners do by posting information about Thank Your Cleaner Day on your company’s social media.
  • Print and hang Thank Your Cleaner Day posters and fliers throughout your facility.
  • Leave notes of appreciation to cleaning staff throughout the day.
  • Host a special luncheon in honor of the cleaning staff.
  • Hand out Thank Your Cleaner certificates to honor staff for outstanding work that goes above and beyond what’s typically expected.
  • Use the day to help other employees more deeply understand the meaning of clean and the important services professional cleaners provide to their follow workers.
  • If you use a third-party contractor for cleaning, meet up with that organization and coordinate a plan to honor the workers together.
