Study Ranks Small Businesses Faring the Best and the Worst in the Pandemic

While many small businesses are not expected to recover from the post-COVID-19 pandemic, those offering cleaning and sanitation services are not only profiting, but also producing innovative new services that may change the industry and the world, according to a new study from Fit Small Business.

The study, based on data from Statista and MarketResearch, found the US$117 cleaning industry is rapidly growing, with demand at an all-time high. It predicts that cleaning companies will be hiring at a record rate as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state governments set new cleaning and disinfecting guidelines. The general public will embrace new, deep-cleaning technology such as electrostatic spraying.

Other industries expected to gain from the pandemic include technology, liquor, ecommerce, and video streaming entertainment. Industries experiencing losses include hospitality, retail, events, travel, and health care.
