Weekly Advocacy Recap-January 6, 2020

January 6, 2020

Welcome to the ISSA Advocacy Weekly Recap! This is ISSA’s regular roundup of the latest public policy-related issues impacting the cleaning industry. With 2020 getting started, this week’s recap is a look forward at the five most important advocacy-related dates to remember.

Week of January 6: ISSA’s Advocacy Team Gets to Work for You!

The beginning of the new year means that not only will the United States Congress convene (January 7), but so will more than 20 state legislatures around the country. Throughout the winter and spring, we will be reaching out to our members to update them on pertinent legislation and ask them to weigh in on important policy issues. Additionally, Stacy Seiden will start working for ISSA as the new Government Affairs Coordinator. She is tasked with helping to expand our grassroots advocacy program and engaging members.

March 25-26: ISSA’s 2020 Clean Advocacy Summit

By participating in the summit, you will be ahead of the regulatory and legislative curve. You’ll also have the chance to head to Capitol Hill to meet with Congressional staff, share your stories, and make your voice heard on legislative and regulatory issues impacting business and the cleaning industry as a whole. Space is extremely limited.

May 12-13: Antimicrobial Workshop

This popular industry program is the perfect opportunity to obtain the latest policy, regulatory, and procedural information critical to the manufacture, marketing, and sale of disinfectants, sanitizers, and other antimicrobial pesticides. The 13th Annual Antimicrobial Workshop is sponsored by the American Chemistry Council Center for Biocide Chemistries, the Household and Commercial Products Association, and ISSA, in coordination with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Antimicrobials Division.

October 26-29: ISSA Show North America

ISSA Show North America is the top event for professionals in the cleaning industry and the leading show for cleaning and maintenance solutions. Manufacturers, distributors, facility managers, building contractors, and residential cleaners will come together for information sharing, relationship building, and product innovation. The 2020 Show will take place in Chicago, Illinois at McCormick Place.

November 3: Election Day

ISSA encourages all our members to be active in the democratic process by becoming informed and to vote—not only at the national level but also at the state and local levels, which are increasingly having more impact on public policy. ISSA does not endorse candidates, but our team will be analyzing the election results and how they could impact the cleaning industry in terms of the legislative and regulatory agenda in 2021.

Over the course of the next few months, ISSA will continue to expand its advocacy efforts. As a result, we would like to invite you to become “An Advocate For Clean” by opting to receive updates from ISSA’s government affairs team. By doing so, you will be the first to hear about pressing legislation, compliance deadlines, advocacy events, training, and more! Emails will be kept relevant and to a minimum.
