Facilities Switch to 3M’s Scotchgard Resilient Floor Protector

3M

Whether in a hospital, school, an office, or a retail space, the floor of a facility is an important, visible component of a business’s environment. The upkeep of floors can make an impression on public image, while also affecting the environmental health and safety of the facility.

For this reason, it’s no surprise that facilities today are becoming increasingly concerned with the maintenance, operational costs, and environmental impact of maintaining their floors’ appearance.

Enhancing Appearance

Understanding the issues customers face with traditional floor finishes, from regular scrubbing and stripping to the strong odors of harmful chemicals, 3M set out to further improve its 2014 ISSA Innovation Award winning floor finish to unveil the newly reformulated, next generation Scotchgard™ Resilient Floor Protector.

This proprietary, patented, high-performance floor coating with nanotechnology is zinc-free, low odor, and utilizes multiple technologies to produce a hard surface that retains gloss and resists black marks. Scotchgard™ Resilient Floor Protector works with the 3M Resilient Floor Protection System to provide tough, durable protection, keeping floors clean and bright, while requiring less maintenance and fewer chemicals.

Meeting Sustainability Goals

Eliminating stripping and refinishing can help facilities meet their sustainability goals by reducing water use and waste-water discharge, as well as help to minimize maintenance staff exposure to harsh chemicals.

Scotchgard™ Resilient Floor Protector is formulated for multiple surfaces, including sheet vinyl, linoleum, luxury vinyl, and vinyl composition tile (VCT), and reduces the need for stripping when used as a two-coat protector.

3MSee What Others are Saying

Brett Bostian, director of facilities and operations of Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD) in Texas states, “Corpus Christi Independent School District has opened one to two new elementary schools each year for the last 10 years. Typically, we need an army of custodians to clean the building and refinish the floors before we have our grand opening, but with Scotchgard™ Resilient Floor Protector, two coats of floor finish is all that’s required. We are saving $80,000 in labor using the new protector, all while making sure the Corpus Christi Independent School District has good looking facilities that are well maintained and cost-effective.”

Improving Maintainability

Just two coats of Scotchgard™ Resilient Floor Protector produce a clean, bright appearance that is four times as resistant to abrasion as traditional floor finishes. It is also hand sanitizer resistant. Once floors are protected, facilities are able to maintain their beauty with simple daily cleaning with the 3M™ Neutral Cleaner and occasional burnishing with the long-lasting 3M™ Tan Burnish Pad 3400.

3M has more than five decades of experience in floor protection and maintenance. Regardless of surface type, traffic pattern, or desired appearance, 3M offers an innovative product solution to suit your floor care needs.
