Buildings Closed? Get a Head Start on Floor Care Projects

Spartan

While buildings are shut down or open to limited access, it’s a great time to perform restorative floor care procedures. In addition to preparing buildings for reopening, floor restoration provides a deep cleaning, removing soils and debris from high traffic surfaces. Plus, you can keep custodial staff busy with a strip and recoat of your finished flooring.

Deep Cleaning and Restoration of Floors

Rarely in professional floor care operations do we have the opportunity to strip and recoat floors without people traffic getting in the way of our projects. Take advantage of this period, while buildings are closed, to efficiently tackle your floor care projects. Spartan recommends a 5-step process to accomplish clean, safe, and glossy floors.

Step 1: Remove debris from the area

Step 2: Test floors for appropriate stripper dilution

Step 3: Apply floor finish remover and allow to dwell

Step 4: Deep scrub stripper solution, wet vac,
neutralize and clear water rinse

Step 5: Apply finish when floor is dry — remember to use the correct number of coats to maintain coverage until the next season

Staff Training: CleanCheck® Hard Floor Care

Spartan Chemical offers an online training module that demonstrates, step-by-step, the processes and procedures required to get the job done right. Online instruction helps to promote social distancing and keep everyone safe. Complete with bilingual video tutorials, training manuals, on-the-job cards and testing tools, CleanCheck will help you train your employees on floor restoration.

Determining the Proper Dilution for Your Floor Finish Remover

Many people subscribe to the philosophy that more is better, but when it comes to removing finish from floors, this is not always the case. Over-diluting or under-diluting your floor finish remover can cause problems such as tacky, gummy residue or simply not getting the finish off the floor. Before stripping the floor, you will need to determine the correct concentration for the floor finish remover. Spartan’s CleanCheck Hard Floor Care module includes easy to follow directions to test for the correct amount of floor finish remover in just 5 minutes.
