Custodial Work Among Fastest-Growing Jobs

September 25, 2019

Constant changes in the job market lead to some professions disappearing and others experiencing significant growth. Workers looking to avoid unemployment or revive their careers after layoffs are most interested in careers projected to grow.

After analyzing data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor (BLS), MoneyWise created a list of 15 professions likely to add the most jobs over the 10 years ending in 2026. The list placed personal care aids at the top, with 777,600 new jobs projected by 2026, and market research analysts at 15, with 138,300 news jobs expected by 2026.

The cleaning industry was represented near the middle of the list at number 6, with 236,500 new jobs projected by 2026. The median annual pay for custodians is US$26,110, according to the BLS. Janitorial contractors are expected to benefit from this growth with more companies outsourcing cleaning services.
