Disinfectant Sprayers Recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled 405,000 disinfectant sprayers because the lithium-ion battery pack can overheat and may catch fire and explode, Pennlive reports.

The sprayers were sold in the United States by nationwide and online suppliers such as Amazon, SupplyWorks, and Staples from January 2016 through November 2020 for US$100 to $150. An additional 27,000 sprayers were sold in Canada as well.

The manufacturer of the sprayers, Victory Innovations, received 37 reports of the products overheating, catching on fire, or exploding. No injuries were reported, only property damage.

The commission advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled sprayers, remove the battery pack and dispose of them in accordance with local laws for disposal of lithium-ion batteries. They can contact Victory Innovations for a free replacement battery pack, including shipping.
