ISSA Show Business Meeting Prepares Members for 2023
Cleaning professionals gather to celebrate award winners and meet new board directors.
Early on Thursday, October 13—the last day of ISSA Show North America 2022—ISSA members gathered to hear from ISSA leadership and board directors on the future of the association and to celebrate fellow cleaning industry professionals.
This year’s show offered more than 70 opportunities for education and certification, networking, and exploring innovations within the industry. More than 600 exhibitors, innovators, and experts in commercial, residential, and institutional cleaning were in attendance at the event.
John Barrett, Executive Director at ISSA, kicked off the meeting by first focusing on two topics: The Rethink What Clean Means campaign and the upcoming 100th anniversary of ISSA.
He then invited ISSA Charities Board Co-Chairs John Riches and Ted Stark to give a brief talk and introduce Jay Shearer, ISSA Manufacturer Representatives’ Director and senior vice president at Avision. In return, Shearer presented the Manufacturer Representatives’ Distinguished Service Award to Myron Shultz of Lambskin Specialties, a provider of jansan products.
Shearer then introduced ISSA Past President and International Director Ken Bodie, president and CEO at Kelsan Inc., who presented the ISSA NextGen Rising Star Award in Honor of Jimmy Core to Tillman Keller, also of Kelsan, a distributor of facility cleaning and packaging supplies.
Bodie then passed the meeting to 2022 ISSA President Harry Dochelli of Essendant, who presented the Jack D. Ramaley Industry Distinguished Service Award to Meredith Reuben, the retired CEO of EBP Supply Solutions.
After the meeting was officially called to order, recognition gifts were presented to each of the outgoing members, and outgoing president Dochelli gave a farewell address.
The new board president for 2023, Matt Vonachen, as well as other incoming board directors, were then introduced to meeting attendees. Vonachen also gave a brief address to the crowd.
