National Public Health Week Celebrates 30 Years
National Public Health Week (NPHW) kicks off today and will continue through April 11.
For three decades, NPHW has been a cornerstone in advancing health equity, improving community well-being, and championing policies that protect and promote public health.
To mark this milestone, the American Public Health Association (APHA) will hold a National Public Health Kickoff Forum reflecting on the progress of the last 30 years and charting the path forward. Through engaging discussions with leading public health experts, APHA will examine the most significant lessons learned, emerging challenges like climate change and misinformation, and the innovations that will shape the future of public health. Joel Bervell, MD, TikTok’s Medical Mythbuster, will join public health leaders in a powerful conversation about the next era of public health — where science, collaboration, communication, and advocacy come together to build healthier, more resilient communities.
Each April, APHA unites communities nationwide to celebrate NPHW, recognizing public health contributions and addressing key health issues. As the organizer for 30 years, APHA develops annual campaigns and resources to educate the public, policymakers, and practitioners. During each day of NPHW, APHA focuses on a particular public health topic. The 2025 priority areas include:
- It Starts Here: Your Health is Our Mission
- Climate Action Starts Here: Championing Resilience for Health
- Health Equity Starts Here: Optimizing Health for All
- Advocacy Starts Here: Amplifying Voices for Public Health
- The Future of Public Health Starts Here: Strengthening the Public Health Workforce
