Town of Normal Facilities Management Achieves CIMS-GB Certification

August 19, 2019

The Town of Normal, Illinois’ Facilities Management Department has successfully completed certification to the ISSA Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) and CIMS-Green Building (CIMS-GB) with Honors.

Compliance with the standard shows that a cleaning organization has the systems in place to deliver cost-effective, consistent, professional services designed to meet customer needs and expectations and is prepared to deliver a comprehensive green cleaning program based on LEED EB: O&M green cleaning criteria. CIMS and CIMS-GB certification are required in many cleaning service bid specifications as customers look for an effective way to identify high-quality providers committed to customer satisfaction at a great value for the necessary investment.

Town of Normal Facilities Management has and continues to provide the same high-quality service that is often actively sought by building owners. Community stakeholders may rest assured that the highest level of care and competence is inherent to the daily operations of the Town of Normal Facilities Management Department in the preservation and care of the community assets.

“We are thrilled to be recognized with this honor and this certification as an elite facility service provider. Our staff have worked very hard to achieve this certification and I’m very proud of every member of the facilities management team as well as our colleagues at the Town that have supported us in achieving this goal,” says Mark Clinch, director of facilities and energy management for Normal. “Everyone takes pride in their work and displays the highest level of professionalism to achieve department and town goals. This certification is the culmination of teamwork and dedication!”

Independent, accredited assessors verify CIMS and CIMS-GB certified firms meet the industry standard for:

  • Quality systems
  • Service delivery
  • Human resources
  • Health, safety, and environmental stewardship
  • Management commitment
  • Green building.

Recently, CIMS-GB became a direct compliance option to meet the green-cleaning policy prerequisite of Version 4 of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) revised Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (LEED EB: O&M) rating system.
