Here’s to a Healthy and Safe 2015

Whether or not you are into setting New Year’s resolutions for yourself, it is important to actively set goals. According to a report from the University of Scranton’s Journal of Clinical Psychology, only 8 percent of those who set resolutions actually achieve their goals. While there are many reasons for this less-than-stellar success rate, most often the goal lacks a plan or we attempt to accomplish more than one goal simultaneously and fail. However, those who define a specific resolution are 10 times more likely to accomplish their goal.

Goal-setting helps to define both short- and long-term strategy. The exercise itself provides motivation and guidance to maximize the decision-making process, helps set forth policy, and establishes the means necessary to achieve the larger goals. But don’t stop at setting goals; it is equally important to review your goals on a regular basis to refocus and ensure that you are staying on course.

Understanding the challenges you face in your busy schedules helps us at Cleaning & Maintenance Management (CMM) fulfill our goal, which is to provide you valuable information and resources that you can use to improve your operations.

Survey Says…

In CMM’s 2014 benchmarking surveys, we learned that in-house/facility managers believe the most important challenge they face is to ensure the health and safety of their facilities and their occupants, while building service contractors stated their customers’ most pressing area of concern is to improve their facility’s image.

Therefore, we know that keeping your facilities and your tenants safe and healthy is vitally important. And that’s the reason we’ve developed this timely issue focused on infection control and prevention.

In this issue we’ll focus on:

  • Cross-contamination and minimizing its effect when cleaning public restrooms
  • Cold and flu prevention strategies that facilities can implement as we face yet another brutal cold-and-flu season
  • Industry trends in infection control and prevention
  • And a variety of additional tips and tools you can use to improve your day-to-day operations.

  • So in 2015, let’s get better. Set goals, devise a plan to achieve them, and execute the plan.

    Here’s to a successful year!
