Janitorial Championship Swept by Maryland College

The golden toilet, the top trophy of the Maryland State Custodian Olympics, was awarded to the Seahawk Sweepers, the varsity janitorial team for St. Mary’s College of Maryland in St. Mary’s City, MD.

The 50th-annual Maryland State Custodian Olympics were recently hosted at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD. The event tested the janitorial teams in speed, endurance, and overall skill, with games such as clearing out overloaded trash bags, scrubbing dirty toilets, and tag-team relay sweeping, according to St. Mary’s newsletter, The Point.

As the winners, the Seahawk Sweepers, won not only the trophy, but also a lifetime supply of paper towel rolls and single-ply toilet paper for their college from the event’s sponsor Sysco Corp.
