Talk of Public Toilets for Homeless Spreads

Public restrooms for the homeless were suggested by the mayor of Ocean Springs, MS, during a meeting between business owners and the Board of Alderman.

Public toilets would help cut down on human waste being left on streets or behind buildings, according to Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran. The proposed restrooms would be located in out of the way areas with timers that lock the restrooms at night, reported the Sun Herald.

The discussion of public restrooms for the homeless is trending for cities with large homeless populations. A similar talk was held in Costa Mesa, CA, reported by CMM News.
