ISSA Show North America 2022 Explores Workplace Diversity and Inclusion

August 15, 2022

The Lunch-and-Learn session at this year’s ISSA Show North America on Monday, October 10, in Chicago, features Derreck Kayongo, a native of Uganda and former refugee who worked his way up to become CEO of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.

In his presentation, Kayongo will share how his organization found itself grappling with diversity and inclusion and what he did to tackle those issues head on. He also will demonstrate, through eye-opening examples, the connection between these problems and the corporate bottom line, by revealing the potential savings that arise from understanding the cost of discrimination and appreciating the value of employees.

Ultimately, Kayongo’s talk will strive to nurture a “corporate moral aptitude”—a concept much like emotional intelligence but revolving more specifically around cultural biases within the workplace.
