Making the Case for Regular Carpet Maintenance

October 14, 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of frequent cleaning. However, this revelation was nothing new for cleaning industry companies. Carpet and cleaning equipment manufacturers recently made the case for a regular carpet cleaning routine in a European Cleaning Journal article.

Representatives with Kärcher pointed out that a regularly and properly cleaned carpet will last twice as long as an uncleaned one. It will save maintenance and labor costs as regularly cleaned carpet will not need to undergo as many expensive and time-consuming cleaning processes. Regular cleanings will also prevent unsightly problems such as stains in high-traffic areas and fiber distortion caused by soil particles.

As carpets retain dust in the pile, microorganisms adhering to dust might begin to breed. Also, people walking on dusty carpet will stir up allergenic substances, allowing it to swirl around in the air. Not allowing dust to remain in carpet will provide relief to allergy sufferers and ensure a healthier environment for everyone.

Not only is clean carpet healthier, it also makes a better impression on facility visitors. If people notice dirty carpet in a restaurant or hotel, they may question the hygiene standards of the establishment and choose to eat or stay elsewhere.
