Meet the ISSA Show Educational Speakers-Mike Jones

September 17, 2019

Green cleaning and sustainability go hand in hand. It often takes a champion to put a green cleaning plan in action, particularly in facilities like schools that have many stakeholders involved in the decision-making process. Be the champion in your educational institution. Start by attending Green Cleaning as Part of Sustainability Plan in Education on Monday, November 18, 2:15 to 3 p.m. at ISSA Show North America in Las Vegas.

From zero-waste campaigns to an empowering approach to staffing and training, Mike Jones, with more than 30 years of experience in operations management, will outline the ways that successful green cleaning programs are making sustainability a central focus.

Jones oversees the Columbia Public Schools custodial department, which is made up of 40 buildings with more than 3.4 million square feet. He launched a district-wide “Green Initiative” in January 2009, based on the Missouri Green Cleaning Guidelines and Specifications for Schools. Under Jones’ leadership, the program has won two Green Cleaning Awards: 2010 Best New Program and 2011 Grand Award for School Districts.
