Aldi to Go Green

Aldi, the international grocery chain, will spend US$1.6 billion to remodel its worldwide stores using green building features due to increased customer demand. The remodel for Aldi will utilize features such as natural lighting, recycled materials, low-energy refrigeration, and LED lighting in 1,300 of its stores by 2020.

Customer demand for healthier indoor facilities is the driving force behind the remodel, according to Aldi CEO Jason Hart in a report by the Environmental Leader.
