“Spotting” a difference in your daily cleaning.
Facility managers know that protecting the beauty of their carpet can be difficult, but they also know the importance of maintaining a pristine appearance. Spot removal can be particularly frustrating due to the sheer number of substances that can blemish an otherwise flawless carpet.
With an entire family of cleaning products to take care of even the most stubborn stains, Whittaker’s line of revolutionary CRYSTAL® Chemistry products takes the guesswork out of the equation. The CRYSTAL® Chemistry products, along with interim cleaning will prolong your carpet’s lifespan while postponing the need for hot water extraction.
Get the most out of Whittaker’s professional-grade products with the following expert tips, straight from the source. The following advice will help you conquer any blemish with ease, and get your carpet back to beautiful.

General Tips for Daily Spot Cleaning
  • Always be cautious! Be sure to wear gloves before attempting to remove any spot, especially if the cause is unidentified, as potentially dangerous or infectious fluid may be the source of the stain.

  • If the spot is dry, vacuum thoroughly before applying any product to ensure all excess is removed.

  • If the spot is wet, blot with white towels, and continue to do so until you’re sure that not more moisture or soil is being transferred. For large spills (more than 20oz of liquid), use a portable extractor to remove any excess moisture quickly. Be sure to spray only water and make several dry passes (to help minimize drying time).
  • Specific Solutions
  • Ordinary Soil (i.e. dirt or clay) choose CRYSTAL SPOTTER® Spotting Agent, and spray lightly and directly on spot at least 6 inches from the perimeter of the spot. Then, agitate with CARPET ROAMER® Spot cleaning tool. Vacuum when dry or at next scheduled time.

  • Red Food & Drink Stains/Coffee Stains choose CRYSTAL RED STAIN® PLUS (CRS-5), and apply liberally (undiluted) to the spot. Blot with a white towel until no color transfer is evident. Reapply the chemistry as needed, until color no longer transfers to the towel. Finally, apply CRYSTAL SPOTTER® as you would with an ordinary soil stain. This final step may need repeated one or two days later, to encapsulate any remaining sticky components of the spot.

  • For more labor-intensive jobs, such as cleaning an entire area or room, choose CRYSTAL® ODOR & PROTEIN (COP-6.1), and dilute it with CRYSTAL DRY® solution in a spray applicator. Add one bottle (12oz) for each gallon of CRYSTAL DRY® solution. Apply the chemical lightly to the carpet, and then agitate with a SMART CARE® Machine. Vacuum the spot when it dries or at the next scheduled time.
