UK Heath Care Cleaners Win $86,000 Lawsuit

A lawsuit for US$86,674 in damages was recently won by 22 custodians from Torbay Hospital in Torquay, UK, after claiming they were exposed to toxic disinfectants which made them ill.

The lawsuit alleged the custodians were not properly trained and Torbay Hospital failed to comply with safety regulations in the use of a chlorine disinfectant product. Custodians had mixed the disinfectant with hot water in a small, enclosed spaceDevon Live News it had revised its training and reassigned the cleaners as soon as the hospital heard the illness reports.
