According to the Association for Professional in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released a revised version of its Antimicrobial Resistance (AR) Investment Map.

The AR Investment Map provides transparency regarding the CDC’s financial investments, within the United States and globally, to combat AR infections.

According to the CDC, AR occurs when germs do not respond to the drugs designed to kill them and threatens to return the world to a time when even simple infections were deadly. On its website, the CDC stated its commitment “to protecting people and the future of the healthcare, veterinary, and agriculture industries from the threat of antimicrobial resistance.”

The AR Investment Map reveals the CDC’s funding activities, including investments in AR laboratory and epidemiological expertise, as well as public health innovations. The CDC financially supports most of these activities through its AR Solutions Initiative. The map also includes projects related to combating AR that are funded by one-time CDC supplemental appropriations, which are further highlighted on a CDC fact sheet.

To learn more, view the AR Investment Map online and also visit the CDC’s AR website.
