Nebraska Hospitals Honoring Frontline Staff in ‘Operation White Lights’
CHI Health, a health system serving patients across Nebraska, is honoring its frontline workers, including housekeepers, during the coronavirus pandemic through a campaign encouraging public displays of white ribbons and white lights, KLIN-Radio reports.
The campaign, “Operation White Lights,” calls for Nebraska residents to place white lights and bows in their homes and offices, as well as on car antennas and clothing lapels for the remainder of 2020. All 14 CHI Health hospitals will be displaying white bows outdoors on campus.
“With an increased number of patients, this Christmas season is going to be busy for health care workers and hospital staff. Operation White Lights is a way to lift them up and bring us all closer together during a time when we are practicing social distancing,” said Cliff Robertson, CEO of CHI Health.
The color white was chosen since it symbolizes unity, hope, and shows appreciation to all hospital workers caring for COVID-19 patients.
“Seeing a flurry of white will remind hospital workers everywhere that we care,” Robertson said. “This visible outpouring of support is sure to strengthen their resolve and carry them through.”
