Week-Long Campaign Highlights the Importance of Green Facility Practices

LEED Week starts today

October 11, 2021

Are you considering the benefits of a green building, such as water and energy savings? Learn more about the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating, a widely used green building rating system, during LEED Week, October 11 to 15.

Today through Friday, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGB) is releasing daily information on LEED resources. For instance, today it is focusing on busting untrue myths surrounding green buildings. Wednesday it is looking at tools for unique LEED users.

The USGBC first released the LEED rating system in 2002 to help building owners and facility managers, along with their contractors and suppliers, operate their buildings in a way that focused on the health of the occupants while also reducing negative impacts on the environment. Almost 20 years later, more than 125,000 buildings have become LEED certified.

The USGBC estimates that for every LEED certified building, two or three noncertified buildings use the LEED resources such as the green cleaning roadmap.

Learn more about how LEED certification can help facilities meet sustainability goals.
