Welcome to National Cleaning Week

Discover how cleaning companies plan to commemorate the week and celebrate their staff

March 28, 2022

As we observe National Cleaning Week (NCW), March 27-April 2, take some time to reflect on the value that cleaning brings to your clients and the public and to recognize the people who bring this value—your employees.

Tim Poskin, founder and systems integrator of ISSA’s Cleaning Change Solutions™ Consulting, said several of his clients celebrate the week by having supervisors and managers get out of their offices and work alongside their cleaning staff for a first-hand account of a typical staff workday. “It’s a great time to connect in a ‘whistle while you work’ kind of way,” Poskin said.

He believes National Cleaning Week is the perfect time to highlight the importance of staff training. “Training is an ongoing critical tool we forget to use sometimes,” Poskin said. “National Cleaning Week is a great time to level up our skillset.”

Commercial cleaning franchise JAN-PRO Cleaning & Disinfecting plans to honor the dedication of cleaning teams working to keep America protected through National Cleaning Week. The brand will reflect on and celebrate the significant role of the cleaning industry, as its essential workers continue to play a crucial role in maintaining healthy and safe environments for everyone.

“Cleaning week provides us the opportunity to recognize the importance of the cleaning industry, the JAN-PRO brand, and the unrecognized frontline workers that have helped to keep people safe and the economy afloat,” said Gary Bauer, JAN-PRO president.

Joel Craddock, president of Doc’s Facilities Solutions in Rochester, New York, said he is grateful he is “able to thank each person in my organization personally, ensuring they feel the passion I have for each of them and what they do for our company each and every day.”

Craddock recommends the cleaning industry focus on the week by stressing new attitudes regarding the importance of cleaning. “To me the focus needs to be on how the industry has changed and that cleaning for health is so much more important than cleaning for appearance,” he said. “With the technology changes we have in this industry—robotics, software—we will break the [stereotypical] ways we are viewed as an industry.”

Jodie Ricks, president of Intuitive Cleaning Solutions, said this week is a time to shine a light on all of the wonderful things that her cleaning staff, day porters, and janitors do in an effort to keep clients’ buildings sanitized and clean each day for their students, staff, and employees.

“During National Cleaning Week, one of my schools, the Niagara Charter School located in Niagara Falls, New York, will be competing for the cleanest classroom all week in an effort to win a pizza party.  We will be putting up signs and ISSA National Cleaning Week flyers throughout the school and plan on taking photos for social media.”
