The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has announced the availability of more than US$21 million in training grants.

According to OSHA, $10 million is available for nonprofits from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. These funds are earmarked for workplace safety training on infectious diseases, including COVID-19. To be eligible for this set of grants, applicants must develop training focused on identifying and preventing workplace-related infectious diseases in industries with high illness rates that employ frontline workers.  Applications must be submitted at www.grants.gov by July 19, 2021.

In addition, OSHA also announced a second set of training grants through the administration’s annual Susan Harwood Training Grant Program. More than $11 million is available to fund in-person safety and health training for workers and employers in industries with high injury, illness, and fatality rates; underserved youth; workers with limited English proficiency; and small businesses. Applications for the Susan Harwood program must be submitted to www.grants.gov by August 17, 2021.
