Custodian Among Those Killed in Nashville School Shooting
Michael Hill remembered as a “salt-of-the-earth kind of fellow.”
Among the six victims killed in the recent shooting at Covenant School in Nashville was 61-year-old Michael Hill, a custodian who had been in service at the private elementary school for 14 years, as reported by CNN.
According to a statement released by the family, Hill—known as “Big Mike” to students—enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family, which includes seven children and 14 grandchildren.
“We would like to thank the Nashville community for all the continued thoughts and prayers. As we grieve and try to grasp any sense of understanding of why this happened, we continue to ask for support,” the family’s statement said. “We pray for the Covenant School and are so grateful that Michael was beloved by the faculty and students who filled him with joy for 14 years.”
In an article by WKRN news, Jim Bachmann, a former pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church which runs the school, remembered Hill as a “salt-of-the-earth kind of fellow.”
“He didn’t deserve this,” Bachmann continued. “He was a sweet man.”
