May 12, 2021

As more employees switch from their temporary home offices to their workplaces, there is an increase in job postings for cleaning positions, according to a news release from PeopleReady, an on-demand staff labor company.

Offices and other workplace facilities are hiring custodians, maintenance workers, and housekeepers, among other cleaning-related jobs. In the last month, there were more than 160,000 job postings seeking cleaning staff across the Unites States. According to PeopleReady’s job analysis:

  • Cleaning crew member jobs postings saw an increase of 364% in the last 30 days
  • Housekeeping associate jobs for retail spaces soared 300%
  • Custodial assistant jobs rose 200%
  • Building cleaner, janitor, and general cleaner jobs jumped 80%.

“As both companies and employees look to resume in-person work, enhanced cleaning services are a vital part of the new business as usual, and it’s helping to fuel an area of job growth” said Taryn Owen, president of PeopleReady.
