How to Participate in Small Business Saturday
Back in 2010, American Express created Small Business Saturday® to encourage U.S. consumers to “shop small” after Thanksgiving for the upcoming holidays. The campaign continues this year, with Small Business Saturday landing on November 25.
The day is the perfect time for smaller businesses to promote themselves and encourage customers to check out their products and services as an alternative to big-box retailers and corporations.
The Small Business Association (SBA), which has been officially co-sponsoring Small Business Saturday since 2011, suggests the following online resources to help you participate in the day.
As a small business
If you own a small business and would like to leverage Small Business Saturday to promote your company, check out American Express’ free online marketing materials and designs. Available content topics include retail, dining, online, and minority-owned business, among others. The online materials also offer marketing tips and social media advice that you can use to get the most out of the day.
You can also follow the SBA’s various social media accounts, such as Facebook and X, to get more ideas and information on how to promote your business in connection with Small Business Saturday.
As a consumer
We all buy things. Consider shopping small this Saturday! American Express offers a webpage that helps consumers to take full advantage of the small businesses in their local area. On the page, consumers can locate nearby small businesses that offer what they want and need. They can also create and plan grassroots movements for their community to encourage others to shop at small businesses.
