Thank You Notes Left on Hospital Custodians’ Windshields

Students from Community Christian School (CCS) in Scottsbluff, Nebraska—from daycare toddlers to fifth graders—wrote and drew colorful thank you notes for custodians, nurses, doctors, and other employees working at their town’s hospital, Regional West Medical Center, The Hour reports.

The teachers left the thank you notes on the employees’ car windshields in the parking lots of Regional West Medical Center last week going into the holiday season.

“We just want all of our health care and custodial workers in the area to know that CCS is praying for them and thinking of them and just wanted to show our appreciation during this difficult time,” said CCS principal Deirdre Amundsen, who was the mastermind behind this project. “I can’t imagine being in their place. So, I think just the empathy toward them is what led me to the idea. And the kids stepped up and were excited to create things for them.”

Brandy Johnson, one of the first-grade teachers, said this was a great way for students to “support our community.” Darcy Frizzell, a fourth- and fifth-grade teacher, added, “We’re hoping to offer encouragement and support for the medical staff—everyone from the doctors to the janitors and the cooks and the CNAs.”
