Condo Residents Giving Free Lunches to Custodians on Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is a time to show appreciation for individuals one cares about. This Valentine’s Day, residents at condo buildings in Toronto decided they want to do a sweet gesture for the custodians working there by giving them free lunches, blogTO reports.
Residents at CityPlace neighborhood condos in Toronto told blogTO they wanted to show some love for the custodians who have worked tirelessly to keep their building safe especially during a pandemic.
“With so much gloom, if you can put a smile on someone’s face it’s really nice,” said Husain Neemuchwalal, who is leading the initiative. “The staff have all been hit by the pandemic just like we all have. They work in the loading docks, they work in the bathrooms, they clean up the elevators, and most people don’t even know their name.”
Four local restaurants will provide lunch to the 200 staff members across the 30 condo buildings. They will drop off coupons at each building then the property managers will give them out to the staff. Staff members will be able to stop at the local restaurant and pick up a complimentary lunch.
Owners of Roywoods, one of the participating restaurants, said, “We wanted to take this time to say thank you to the true foundation of CityPlace that allows ‘staying at home’ to be safe, clean and comfortable for everyone.”
Concord, the real estate developer in the area, will also be helping to subsidize some of the meals in order to support the restaurants who are taking part.
