ISSA Show Speaker Calls for EVS Worker Certification

November 3, 2021

When it comes to stopping the spread of infection in hospitals and other health care facilities, environmental services (EVS) staff play a key role. One health care expert is calling for a certification process to be created for these professionals.

J. Darrel Hicks is the past president of IEHA, a division of ISSA and will be an educational session speaker at ISSA Show North America 2021, November 15-18 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.  He believes certification will give EVS staff the increased respect and higher pay they deserve. Hicks spoke in detail about the important role EVS workers play in infection control during an interview for Infection Control Today.

Learn about certifications and other continuing education opportunities available for EVS staff through IEHA.

Register for an all-access pass to ISSA Show North America to attend Hick’s session, Safe/Clean/Disinfected Procedures in Health Care on Tuesday, November 16 at 1 p.m.

Also, check out Hick’s tips for hand hygiene in the latest CMM webinar, Navigating the Intersection of Hand/Surface/Environmental Hygiene.
