Top 5 Tips to Get Your Facility Spring Break-Ready

March 5, 2025

With spring break quickly approaching, facility managers nationwide are gearing up for an influx of visitors.

“Spring break is one of the busiest travel seasons. Preparing your facility in advance is crucial,” said Carlos Albir Jr., ABCO Cleaning Products vice president of operations. “With the right tools and strategies, facilities can ensure a clean, welcoming environment for guests.”

ABCO Cleaning Products shared tips to help facilities prepare for the spring break rush:

  1. Prepare floors for heavy foot traffic. Increased foot traffic can cause dirt buildup and wear over time. Regular sweeping and mopping with high-quality tools help protect flooring and maintain their polished appearance.
  1. Deep clean restrooms. A clean restroom leaves a lasting impression. Most (85%) of consumers said an unclean restroom negatively impacts their perception of a business. Increase cleaning frequency and stock up on essential supplies to keep restrooms fresh and sanitary.
  1. Create a waste management program. More visitors mean more waste. Place trash and recycling bins in high-traffic areas and schedule frequent disposal to prevent overflow and maintain a clean environment.
  1. Train your cleaning staff. A well-trained custodial team is key to managing the spring break rush. Provide refresher training on best practices and product usage to improve efficiency and maintain high cleaning standards.
  1. Stock up on sustainable supplies. Plan for the busy season by stocking up on essential cleaning supplies. Choose environmentally conscious, third-party-certified supplies, such as Green Seal, to ensure safety for both customers and the environment.
