Window-washing Santas Spread Socially Distanced Holiday Cheer

December 3, 2020

Residents in a Bethesda, Maryland high-rise were treated to an early visit from not one Santa, but two. Building management confirmed the facility’s two window washers donned red suits and white beards as they cleaned the exterior glass of the 17-story structure, Bethesda Magazine reports.

Managers said they arranged for the window washers to dress as jolly old St. Nick as a socially distanced way to celebrate the holidays and build community. Facility residents appreciated the effort and took photos from their apartments as part of a building-wide social media contest.

The window washers, who work for Valcourt Building Services, an exterior building maintenance company, enjoyed the opportunity to bring smiles to the high-rise occupants, especially the children.

“It’s obviously been a tough year and we’re always looking to brighten people’s days,” said company director Brian Scott.

He advised people around the Washington, D.C. area to be on the lookout for more cleaning Santas in the coming weeks.

This isn’t the first time special window washers have made an appearance at the high rise. Earlier this year, window washers scaled the building in Spider Man costumes.
